Whats happening

It was REALLY hard to return from the NC Mountains and the incredible weather that we were able to experience during and after the Blowing Rock Charity horse show. Steve painted and painted and....painted :-).

The fun thing about that area is that there is so many activities to choose from! Although I held the fort down in Raleigh, I then brought Ashley, our granddaughter back with me and the fun really began. And the exercise. If you really want to experience the mountains, bring a kid along! We gem mined, hiked (and hiked and...) the Blue Ridge trails, Grandfather Mountain, Linville Caverns, tubed down the Watauga River. Every muscle in my body ached. But oh, it was worth it!

Thank you everyone who ordered his paintings and my portraits! We are back at the studio.

Theresa's Portraits:

I am currently working on a number of large orders and will post their progress as I move along. In the meantime, the 18 x 24 pastel on the left is from a Wilmington client. A lot of tweaking went on to bring everything into the perfect portrait and that is what makes portraits fun! The client loves it Digitally but wait till she sees it in person! Always a pleasant extra!

And of course I love to create my little girls! This is also a pastel and is 24 x 20.

Just about everyone at the  Blowing Rock Horse Show wanted to see the poster

Steve's Oils........

Steve's Blowing Rock Charity Horse Show oil painting was a big hit and they sold out of the posters and t-shirts.

Brownie was one of a number of dog portraits done at the horse show.
"On the Rail" was commissioned as a gift for a trainer, I just had to catch her with the right hat on...

A series of his paintings are now housed in the beautiful Saxapahaw Art Gallery located in an old, restored mill on the Haw River outside Chapel Hill and Mebane. Visit the gallery and visit the local five star General Store!

As always, he is keeping up his 100 paintings in 100 days or is it 200 in 200 days?...:-)

Goings on at Art Student Academy

Who knew that art classes would be such a big hit? Creating art has always been our business and calling, but the past year our studio has seen amazing growth in our art classes. Our specialty has become the 2 hour "mini workshops" and participants love them!

We recently held a Mom's Night out for a Cary, NC group and they had a blast! They all opted to paint a challenging view of the gardens at the Louvre  in Paris and did a superb job! Left the husbands at home with the children and the paint and wine flowed! :-)

More fun news! We just held an Art and Wine class at the Twisted Vine in Wake Forest where participants can enjoyed coffe or their favorite wine from sommelier, Bob. The next one is scheduled for Tuesday August 30.

Art of the Carolinas  is coming up! This 4 day art extravaganza (Nov 10-13 ) is the perfect place to buy supplies, take workshops and see what is going on in the world of art! We will be teaching several classes again this year.
